2020 Corvette C8 Installation at Extreme Performance in Palm City, FL

The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 is not only one of the hottest new cars to come out this year, but it’s also one of the most anticipated Corvettes to be released for quite some time. We knew that K40 dealers would be excited to get their hands on the new Corvette C8 for a K40 system installation, so we were elated to speak to Zach Abass, the Audio Manager at Extreme Performance in Palm City, Florida. The installation crew from Extreme Performance worked with a long-time customer who had recently become the proud owner of a brand new 2020 Corvette C8 and wanted a custom K40 radar and laser installation on his new car.

Extreme Performance Store Background

Extreme Performance is one of South Florida’s busiest aftermarket accessories shops. Since 2004, they’ve earned a reputation for their high-quality installations on cars, trucks, boats, and other off-road vehicles. Their services include suspension, audio, full paint/body, interior fabrication, and, of course, custom radar and laser defense systems! Extreme Performance has been a certified K40 dealer for the past 14 years. This means that they know just about everything there is to know when providing their customers with K40 ticket-free protection. With this amount of experience, there’s nothing they can’t handle. This makes them the perfect shop to work with high-performance vehicles like the Corvette C8.

Customer Background – Trust and Loyalty

Because of their commitment to the highest quality of installation, Extreme Performance has gained a solid base of customers who exclusively trust the shop to work on their vehicles. The owner of the Corvette C8 has been a client of Extreme Performance for over 10 years. This customer has had the shop do many installations and modifications on his vehicles, including K40 radar and laser defense systems. Although Extreme Performance primarily sells new K40 systems, this was a removal and reinstall. At Extreme Performance, the installation crew took the K40 system out of their client’s Suburban and installed it into his new Corvette C8. Whenever he needs vehicle upgrades, this customer drives all the way across Florida from Sarasota to Palm City. Now that’s customer loyalty! “He brings his cars to us because he likes what we do,” said Zach.

This is not the first time this client has asked the crew at Extreme Performance to take a K40 system from one vehicle and install it into another. K40 tests all products, not one, not two, but three times. This rigorous testing ensures that your investment in a K40 protection system will last a long time.

It’s not just customers who are impressed with Extreme Performance, but their partners here at K40 as well. “It’s a pleasure to work with Zach and the team at Extreme Performance,” says K40’s Justin Vallo. “Not only do they provide incredible service and state-of-the-art installations, but they are also a true partner for K40. By continuing their education in the category, they stay up to date on the latest speed enforcement tactics and K40 system installation procedures, ensuring that their customers receive an exceptional experience with their new radar and laser system.”

2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Vehicle Background

To understand why this was such an anticipated installation, we first need to understand what makes the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 such an extraordinary vehicle. For more background information on this car, we turned to a YouTuber named Doug DeMuro. Doug highlights the new Corvette C8 and its new features in a highly requested car review on his YouTube channel.

The Corvette was first introduced in the 1950s, and it has been a staple for American car collectors ever since. The 2020 Corvette has an entirely different design from any previous Corvette models on both the inside and the outside. First and foremost, the C8 is the first-ever mid-engine Corvette. This means that the vehicle has a front and back trunk with the engine located in the midsection, behind the seats. Another big change from previous Corvettes is the transmission of the C8. The C8 is the first-ever Corvette available only with an automatic transmission, meaning no C8s with a manual transmission.

This Corvette’s engine has 490 horsepower and 465-lb ft of torque, which allows this car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds. Additionally, the base price for the C8 is under $60,000. For a vehicle being compared to Ferrari and Lamborghini, this makes luxury and high performance affordable!

The Installation:

When installing the K40 system, Extreme Performance had to consider the C8’s structural differences from previous Corvettes, such as its mid-engine design and the larger-than-average center console. When coming up with the system alert LED placement for this vehicle, the crew from Extreme Performance placed the LED’s in a custom fabricated housing off the center console to be discreet, easily visible to the driver still look like it came from the factory. The installers also wanted to keep in mind that this customer was likely to transfer this system into another vehicle at some point in the future. Extreme Performance usually does this about every year or so for this customer, according to Zach.

Installing a K40 radar and laser protection system into a vehicle like the Corvette C8 requires skill and experience. We want to thank Zach Abbas for talking to us about the recent C8 installation and the entire crew at Extreme Performance for all their hard work.
